Which data recovery concepts does iCAS offer?
iCAS offers the Additional Write Path (configurable from iCAS) to write data onto an additional LUN. That way, your data is stored redundantly. You can also use strategies such as disk to disk backup, tape backup, mirroring, snapshots etc.
With these strategies, data can be easily recovered in case they disappear and archiving can immediately resume.
If an iCAS controller fails, it merely needs to be replaced. After the paths are adjusted accordingly, archiving can resume. This is possible because we are not using indexing or similar technologies.
