What does CSC mean and what is the structure of a CSCID?
CSC is the abbreviation of Content Storage Container and is the iTernity-patented technology to store the archive data.
Archived documents are stored using our patented container mechanism, because it allows the management of additional meta data, something not offered by common file systems. The most important is the firm link between the creation/retention date and the contents of the container. The containers are optimized for many small files and the SHA 512 bit hash algorithm offers very good protection against manipulation.
The CSCID is 152 characters long and contains the creation date, the retention date and the hexadecimal representation of the hash value.
You can find more detailed information in the SOAP API documentation, which can be requested from our support team.
