In the past, TIFF and later PDF/A was recommended as archive format. Now you are telling me about CSC – who can I believe?

CSC is not a substitute for other formats, quite the opposite. TIFF or PDF/A data will be kept in the CSC container unchanged. The CSC format only builds a container around the data and keeps additional meta data to avoid manipulation of the files.
