How does iCAS work?

iCAS acts as middleware between a DMS/ECM system and the actual storage system. iCAS offers two interfaces: a web service API as well as a file system gateway (iFSG). Any software capable of placing data on a certain path or an UNC path can thus archive tamper-proof with iCAS.
Data is securely stored on the storage device using the CSC Container technology. Once stored, data cannot be manipulated. If desired, data can also be encrypted and compressed.
The end user typically works with DMS/EMC systems directly, so the user won’t have any impact from the iCAS middleware.
