Are there alternative access methods other than a web service?

No, unfortunately we cannot offer another way to access the containers. This is set by the compliance and security aspects. To be compliant, no unknown code is allowed to run on the iCAS archive.
All necessary functionality is already contained in the web service API. For a backup the *.csc files, which represent the containers, can be backed up.
